Restorative Justice and Supervision Manager
Directorate: Children and Young People’s Services
Starting salary: JM2:- £31,754 p.a.
Location: Based in Weston-super-Mare
Hours: 37 hours per week (this post is available for job share)

North Somerset Youth Offending and Prevention Service (YOS) is a successful outworking of the local partnership between North Somerset Council, Police, Probation, Health, Connexions and other partners. A range of projects deliver early prevention programmes and statutory interventions to young people, carers, and families; and services to victims. If you have the skills and experience to apply we would be pleased to hear from you. The brief of this post has been modified to reflect current service priorities and demands, and to enhance effective delivery of services. Quality assuring work undertaken is a priority.
The successful applicant will be required to:
• Manage case holders supervising a range of cases e.g. final warning programmes and referral orders; and case hold a few high risk cases
• Manage, coordinate and develop Youth Offender Panels and reparation projects
• Train and supervise volunteers e.g. Panel and victim contact volunteers, and appropriate adult workers
• Coordinate programmes across the YOS
• Develop and risk manage reparation projects
• Operate as part of the YOS management team with the shared ownership this entails
For these posts you will need:
• DIPSW or equivalent professional qualification.
• Considerable post qualifying experience in criminal justice or closely related in providing services to young people / victims

YOT Support Worker

“Working to prevent youth offending and to enhance community safety”
North Somerset Youth Offending Team (YOT) is a successful partnership between North Somerset Council, Police, Probation, Health and other agencies. The YOT works with young people subject to statutory youth justice interventions and those at risk of offending on a preventative basis; and provides services to carers, families and victims. The YOT is committed to the principles of restorative justice.
The post-holder will be required to undertake a range of duties. The principal tasks will be to provide supervision of young people undertaking intensive supervision programmes, community reparation and positive activities.
The length of the contract will be extended should funding be extended. Some evening / weekend work will be required.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
• work with young people (one to one or small groups) on a range of issues which relate to need and their risk of offending as assessed by case holding YOT workers.
• Liaise and undertake shared working with colleagues and partner agencies on risk, harm and need relating to young people.
• Work with young people on victim determined actions or on locally developed community based reparation projects.
You will need:
• Five GCSE passes or equivalent
• Sufficient direct work experience as part of a team intervening with young people whose behaviour can be challenging or anti-social.
• Due to the nature of the work undertaken in this role the postholder must have the ability to travel and carry passengers throughout the geographical area of North Somerset. A suitable vehicle is therefore an essential requirement.
